Historic Ely Cemetery Open to Visit on Hillside Avenue Memorial Day

The Ely Cemetery will be open for tours. This private burial ground of Captain William Ely and generations of his descendants will be open to the public for guided tours. Captain Ely, a veteran of the Colonial Wars, moved to New Jersey from Lyme, Connecticut, in 1756, along with his wife Elizabeth Perkins Ely and their seven children. The first burial was in 1777 and the most recent in 1978.
